What is Unashamedly Ethical? Unashamedly Ethical is a broad based, independent, initiative to promote ethics, values, and clean living among business and individuals. It challenges people to make a personal pledge to ethical living, and challenge others to do the same. In doing so we can turn the tide on corruption and poverty. We are currently experiencing a very concerning state of affairs in our country and the world! There is unprecedented violence, crime, corruption, HIV/AIDS, political abuse, bloodshed and immorality sweeping the nation. Sadly there is a total lack of accountability at almost all levels of society. People are desperate for a change! The good news is that you can make that change! If enough of us stand together we can stem the tide.
Who should participate in, or join, Unashamedly Ethical? All CEO’s, Company directors, Employees, Companies, Government officials, Government departments, Elected officials, Political parties, Sports personalities, Parents, Children, School Principals, Teachers, Health care workers, Religious and Community leaders… in fact, any person or group that recognises the need to encourage moral and ethical principles in society. Anyone who is serious about making South Africa a better place for themselves, their family, their grandchildren and the broader community should make the pledge commitment, and encourage others to do the same.
How does Unashamedly Ethical work? It is simple, all that you have to do is sign the pledge form in which you commit yourself to conform to sound values, ethical principles, clean and moral living, and be willing to be held accountable to your commitment. Once you, or a group of you, have completed and signed the pledge please forward it to us. We will list the individual persons, groups, companies etc., on a central directory for ethical persons and organizations. You can choose whether you want to appear on the ethical directory that will be accessed from our website. It is believed that this directory will become a sought after tool as more and more persons and companies sign up to trade and operate according to Unashamedly Ethical principles. Should there be any dispute about the ethical conduct of an individual person, group, or company, you will be able to lodge a complaint with our qualified, independent, ‘ombudsman’ who will investigate the complaint to ensure that ethical standards are upheld.
Do you think the Unashamedly Ethical campaign will work? Yes! It will work because people are tired of the injustice, abuse and lack of accountability we see all around us. People are constantly being challenged to change and to go public with their values and beliefs so that their peers and constituencies can hold them accountable. There will also be substantial benefits for companies and organisations that sign this pledge. We see organisations insisting on only working with companies that are signatories to the Unashamedly Ethical campaign. Companies will prefer to hire employees who have signed the pledge. Members of the community will only support local government officials and politicians who commit themselves to the values and principles of being Unashamedly Ethical.
So, sign the commitment form now, then print a few and get your colleagues, neighbours and friends to do the same! Click here to take the challenge.
